How to Apply

STEP 1 : Download Application Form.
Download the Application form from the Jharkhand State Bar Council Website.      

STEP 2 : Completely Fill the Application Form.

Step 3: Submit the Enrollment form with the required documents and required Fee

Attach the undermentioned documents: 

Proof of academic qualification from matric to LL.B. However, for LL.B. greater details of proof is required, and the applicant has to furnish the proof of marks of each semester, and the LL.B. Pass certificate, beside the character certificate provided by the law college

If there is any case against the applicant, he must furnish the details of the type and status of the case, alongwith the certified copies of the latest ordersheets of the case. If he has been ever convicted by any court of law, he must furnish the details thereof as well. 

One set of self attested copies of documents submitted should also be furnished 

Three passport size colour and recently taken photographs

The SC/ST applicants should also submit valid caste certificate issued by the Jharkhand government 
Other certificates, photographs, declarations and documents as per Application Form

Required Fee

The Fee Structure for the enrollment of a lawyer into the Jharkhand State Bar Council is as below :

  1. BEFORE ENROLMENT: One Demand Draft has to be made payable to “Jharkhand State Bar Council“. This should be made payable at Ranchi. The amount of the DD would be as follows: (i) For general candidates who are less than 45 years of age and who have not earlier been under any other remunerative employment = Rs 14,910/; (ii) For general candidates who are 45 years or more of age or who have retired from or have been under some other employment and were remunerated for the same = Rs 29,910; (iii) For SC/ST candidates = Rs 9410/; (iv) For SC/ST candidates who are 45 years or more of age or who have retired from or have been under some other employment and were remunerated for the same = Rs 26,910/.

2. After Enrolment: All candidates who have been enrolled, need to pay the same amount as fee caste category

(i) One Demand Draft payable of Rs 3000 payable to “Bar Council of India Welfare Committee for the state of Jharkhand” . This should be made payable at Ranchi

(ii) One Demand Draft of Rs 3550 made payable to “Jharkhand Bar Council Journal” . This DD should also be made payable at Ranchi

(iii) Cash payment of Rs 300/ for a book named “Elements of Advocacy” for which a receipt with a serial number is given  

 

At JSBC office, the enrollment application form is scrutinised and put up before the scrutiny committee. After clearance, a notice is displayed on the notice board of the Bar Council for fourteen days for objection, if any to such enrollment. Thereafter, the Enrollment committee considers the applications with report. 

Enrollment Number and License to Practice 

The applicants whose names are cleared are given an enrollment number and a license to practice. If the applicant has cleared LL.B. before the session of 2009-2010, then he is conferred the permanent enrollment certificate. Others are conferred provisional enrollment certificates. 

Requirement of All India Bar Examination

Those who are conferred provisional enrollment certificates have the same right to practice as advocates except that they are required to appear for and clear AIBE conducted by the Bar Council of India before the end of three years from the date of enrollment. if he fails to clear the same, his license to practice will be deemed to have been suspended. But he does not require permission, etc to appear for AIBE whenever he wants. As soon as he clears the AIBE, his license to practice is deemed to have been resumed. No official work is needed for such resumption. But he should then apply for permanent enrollment certificate.

The candidate is required to submit his provisional enrollment certificate, two photographs in Advocate’s dress and a copy of the Certificate of Practice (COP) conferred by the BCI to successful candidates
